Willentz, Para Senador de Los Estados Unidos
Description
“WILLENTZ, PARA SENADOR DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS”
COMMERCIAL COMICS was actively involved in the 1965 and 1966 political elections of New Jersey and did promotional giveaway books in these back-to-back years! What makes these books unusual is that they were the first political comic books done in Spanish for U.S. elections as both candidates were of Spanish descent who reached out for the Spanish-speaking voters of New Jersey.
This book was for Warren Wilentz in his 1966 bid for U.S. Senator from New Jersey. The book highlights his life and tells about his concerns for the good people of New Jersey and how he hopes to help them as their U.S. Senator.
This book is 5” x 7” and 16-pages in length, produced in English.

Let's Get Things Done for Kansas, Elect Robert Ellsworth to the U.S. Senate
Description
“LET’S GET THINGS DONE FOR KANSAS…ELECT ROBERT ELLSWORTH TO THE U.S. SENATE” was produced as a political giveaway by COMMERCIAL COMICS for the U.S. Senate race of Congressman Bob Ellsworth in 1966. Script by MALCOLM ATER, SR.
The book opens with criticism of the growing concentration of power in Washington and the need for someone to look out for the best interests of ALL the people of Kansas. Mention is made that Bob’s opponent has the poorest voting attendance record of any Republican Senator in Washington, so how can this guy represent the good people of Kansas WHEN HE DOESN’T EVEN SHOW UP?
We know we can depend on Bob, because through a flashback we learn his father was a school teacher, while young Bob attended public schools and worked hard in high school on the weekend and summer vacations to save money for college, entering Kansas University at age 16, and earning his degree in engineering at 19! Upon graduation, Bob received a commission in the U.S. Navy and served aboard a minesweeper in WWII.
After the Navy, Bob became just a regular guy as he put himself through law school waiting on tables, working as an engineer at the LOS ALMOST ATOMIC ENERGY SITE, and even working as a farm laborer and in construction camps. When the Korean War broke out, Bob turned in his civilian duds to go back aboard a minesweeper in the Eastern Mediterranean. When he left the service, Bob got into politics, winning three elections to represent Kansas as a U.S. Congressman.
The book concludes with what Bob has done in Congress, how he always send out a newsletter to his constituents and how he stays close to the people by talking with groups of workers and getting their ideas on current problems. It tells how Bob wants to have Kansas play a vital role in HELPING TO FEED THE HUNGRY PEOPLE OF THE WORLD by raising food from FENCE TO FENCE with not one acre of WASTED land! And how he wants better FLOOD CONTROL programs, converting abandon STRIP-MINED areas into PLEASURE RESORTS, bringing in DEFENSE and SPACE contractors for more jobs, and how he has DISTINGUISHED himself as a fighter of INFLATION so that the POWER of the dollar stops shrinking!
And we learn that Bob wants to stop the BLOODBATH ON THE HIGHWAYS by having better and safer autos, uniform road signs and more intensive DRIVER EDUCATION, because the life you save may be your OWN! The last panel shows us Bob with his wife and two kids, waiting to serve all the good people of Kansas in the U.S. Senate.
