Description
First test using duals on a tractor in 1940 and the first year the new Charley Adams test car was used. Side view of a Ford-Ferguson System 9N tractor towing the test car and another tractor, which serves as a load unit. The Adams test car could not apply a load and was only used for measurement. The old tractor test lab is in the background.

Carlton Zink performing an after-test oil drain on an Allis Chalmers C. The oil will be weighed and the weight compared to the oil weight which was put in the tractor before the test. The oil specific graviry is also determined. These measurements provide the oil consumption during the test. The second person is a company representative.

Description
Text states: "1940. Checking engine R.P.M. during test no. 357." The Caterpillar D-8 is shown from the rear, where the belt pulley is located. A test engineer is measuring the belt pulley RPM with a handheld Tachometer (an RPM counter) touching the center of the pulley. Two other engineers, probably from Caterpillar, are standing behind him watching.
