Chromolithograph street plan of Buenos Aires, especially made for drivers in the early age of automobiles. On sheet 72x74 folded and attached to inside cover of complete index of streets in the city of Buenos Aires 16x12 “Dispositivo patentado Bemporat Subdivide Bemporat el Plano de la Capital. Indice general de las Calles”. Includes 9 inset maps of selected areas and subway system. Oriented with north to right. Map made around 1930, during a period of explosive economic, cultural and population growth for the Argentine capital. Streets and squares depicted on the map was lined with city blocks, configuration of the blocks, differentiated by colors according to building density and complete numbering of streets. Includes names of main public buildings, railway lines and places of interest. This early edition of the Bemporat plan of Buenos Aires was made especially for automobile drivers, at the time that the use of cars was becoming widespread for the first time. Explained within the box entitled ‘Pavimentacion Urbana’, in the lower right, the streets heightened in red are cobbled, while the streets heightened in blue are paved with asphalt. The numbers on the map correspond to the accompanying index. Date estimated.
