Man in front of dugout at Craonne
Description:
C.8. The photograph L.J. Patras, as a Poilu in front of his dug out at Craonne. - Chemin-des-Dames. - Aug. 1917. Three French soldiers stand or sit along a shallow trench that runs from the door of an underground structure made of sandbags, logs, and brush. On the left a fourth soldier leans against a rough-hewn table, on which a jug and and messware are placed. The dugout is in a wooded area with a few trees around its entrance and on its sides.
