Fort de Nogent l'Abbesse
Description:
R.2. 'Fort' of Nogent l'Abbesse North Reims, occupied by the boche 4 years, damaged by our heavy artillery. Octob.1918. A soldier wearing a medic's armband stands in the middle foreground beside a planked ramp outside an arched doorway of the wall built in the hillside. A second soldier stands farther back, near the image's center, where rubble and caved-in dirt fill a broken portion of the wall. In the background walls are braced with logs extending from their facades to the opposite hillside.
