Comprising of pictorial title page, engraved by George Cruikshank delt. Joseph Goodyear sculpt., a General map of the Kingdom, and 32 maps of counties, arranged alphabetically. Maps are drawn by R. Creighton and engraved by I. Dower Pentonville London. Includes a note beneath the maps: ”Drawn and engraved for Lewis' topographical dictionary”. Maps are hand colored in outline, one folded. Showing administrative boundaries, cities, towns, villages, mail and other roads, railroads, mountains, rivers, canals, and bridges. Relief shown by hachures. Prime meridian: Greenwich. Bound in olive embossed cloth covers, with gilt lettering on spine reads “Lewis's Atlas of the counties of Ireland”. Samuel Lewis and Co. was based in London. Samuel Lewis the elder died in 1865. His son of the same name predeceased him in 1862.
