Comprised of Première through Sixième deliveries (i.e., first-sixth) dated 1884, 1886, 1887, 1888, 1889 and 1890. Each delivery introduced by a half title page, full title page and table of contents; first and second deliveries also include introductory text. Volume contains 134 lithographed plates, in color, with 175 maps and 11 views. Maps show ports around the world, featuring topography, vegetation, parks, railways, streets, bridges, canals, drainage, islands, docks and soundings, with depths given in meters. Relief shown with hachures. Some maps provide insets showing the greater vicinity of the area. Certain ports appear in multiple deliveries, therefore showing port developments over time, such as Anvers [Antwerp], depicted in both 1883 and 1886. Certain maps in the second delivery also utilize data visualization to compare imports to France from other nations. All together, atlas presents a valuable survey of international ports from the late-nineteenth century.
