First edition of graphic anagram map of Uskudar range (District of Istanbul) created by Amelle Caron. “This first edition is 250 copies on offset munken 150 g and 50 copies numbered and signed. This is copy 43 of 50. The legend or the reading tool beneath the map, demonstrate the city’s two-dimensional plan, is disassembled into single modules. These are sorted, arranged, assembled in a simple typology by size. The words of Armelle Caron on the creation of “graphic anagrams” are confusing: “we do not make a text with these arranged plots, because we then only have the physicality of the urban language, without expression. “Tidy cities” are language without language”. In this work the “ranged towns” the artist, removes the city from its form, pulls the city towards the fragment. It only retains the fabric of the roads, the mesh of spaces used in thin cobwebs. The topography therefore becomes an incentive for cutting.
