This is a second copy of the Ferraris survey map set with coloring following natural features and different political boundaries than our other copy, 11123.000. General comments: Ferraris survey, in set of 25 hand drawn maps of The Austrian Netherlands: modern Belgium, when it was part of Austria,shetts 61x94 or smaller. The largest scale maps in 18th century The presentation of general surface and scale recognized as the same as the one in the system of cartographical delineation in Cassini survey of France. All sheets are part of a composite map, and all hand colored. Title from sheet no. 11. Geographic coverage shown in 22 sheets: nos. 1-15, 17-20, and 23-25, no. 1 (Explication), no. 16 (Engraving view): Presentee le 10 Decembre 1777 a sa Majeste Joseph II Empereur des Romains), no. 21 (Plan topographique de la ville de Bruxelles et de ses environs, 1:5,200), no. 22 (Carte general ... du Provinces Autrichiennes, with text (Avertissement), no. 23 index map. Maps are dissected, backed with linen, folded, placed into 5 brown marbled cover cardboard cases with title "Nouvelle Carte Chorographique des Pais Bas Autrichiens" stamped in gold on the spine. Maps showing principal towns, villages, geological character of the area, soil and elevation, agriculture, roads, rivers, canals, abbeys, woods and forests, vineyards, marshes, lakes and ponds, wind and water mills, and landmarks. Includes decorative carthouche, explanation to the symbols, and Index. Relief shown by hachures and shading. Prime meridian is Paris.
