Bilder - Atlas zum Conversations - Lexicon. Ikonographische Encyklopaedie der Wissenschaften und Kuensten. Entworfen und nach den vorzuegsten Quellen bearbeitet von Johann Georg Heck ... Leipzig: F.A. Brockhaus. 1850.
Pub Note:
This is a looseleaf atlas accompanied by a set of 4 volumes in English which includes both translations from German, and substitute original texts written specifically for the American audience. The text refers, for the purpose of illustrating things and concepts, individually to this large collection of plates and figures in Johann Georg Heck's Bilder - Atlas zum Conversations - Lexicon. The records are organized such that each English text volume pages are immediately followed by the corresponding atlas pages, most of which are views rather than maps. English volumes are not scanned here except for important reference pages. The plate numbers as referred to in the text have been numbered by hand in the bottom left corner of each plate; the "figures" refer to the individual drawings on the plates. Note that the Index Pages include a German to English glossary for many of the plates. Many of the plates are hand annotated in German. The English text is available online at Vol 1 https://archive.org… Vol 2 https://archive.org… Vol 3 https://archive.org… Vol 4 https://archive.org…
