Guerry’s Moral Statistics of France, preceded by a report to the Academy of Sciences, by Lacroix, Silvestre and Girard: By A. M. Guerry, was one of the foundation studies of modern social science. Guerry assembled data on crimes, suicides, literacy and other statistics in XI, 69 pages of report and 7 plates of maps, charts and tables to analyze a variety of social issues across departments of France. The data is presented in a variety of methods of statistics, graphics, thematic cartography and data visualization. Bound in brown paper covered boards with title on front and advertisements on back covers.
