Pub Note:
Set of 146 sheets of which 144 sheets are flat on paper, 2 sheets (#145 and #146) mounted on linen and folded with covers. Legend on each sheet. Full color. Relief shown by contours. Sheets include, "Published by Colonel Sir Charles Close, K.B.F., C.B., C.M.G. Director General" or "Published by Colonel Commendant E.M. Jack, C.M.G., D.S.O., Director General." Comparing this set to our later "New Popular One-Inch Map with National Grid, England and Wales" of 1947 (see our 6917.000) one can see many changes both in the urban areas expanding and in the adoption by the Ordnance Survey of the National Grid.
