The extra maps include maps of groups of the American States, and Ancient maps. J.G. Melish made several of the new State maps, as well as the U.S. map which first appears in the 1820 edition of Carey's School Atlas. This copy is lacking three maps - the U.S., Eastern States, and New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Bound in half leather brown paper covered boards with "Atlas" printed on the spine. Title page includes engraved view of two women studying the globe surrounded by symbols of learning, time, and civilization.
