This is the second edition (1866 was the first) of the first map of Iowa that Blanchard produced by himself (he issued Morse's Map of Iowa in 1856 - see our #2375). The map appears to be taken from a larger wall or pocket map, and is certainly from the same plate as Blanchard's large Map of the North Western States (our #5210). Only eastern Nebraska is shown, including the partially completed Pacific Railroad from Omaha westward. With a paste down slip of population statistics on the inside cover. Full color. Map is folded into dark green cloth covers 12.5x9 with "Guide Map Of Iowa And Eastern Nebraska" in gilt.
