Narrative description:
Investment schemes. [Triton of the north, as chief manager of the men projecting to change the sandbank called Pampus into a harbor, forms the rear guard of the papershare playhouse.] Triton sits in a boat drawn by mermaids. Mercury with a caduceus and wings holds a circle of fish over his head. A fanciful dinghy full of “wind ballast” is tied to Triton’s ship. In the background is the town of Enkhuizen, one of the harbor towns of the VOC from where overseas trade with the East Indies was conducted. Also includes another boat with a mermaid and a figure with a castle on her head, dredging in the harbor, a fishing boat hauling in nets, a windmill and a “foolish” beacon on a promontory.
